~ In around the year 2005, I somehow got addicted to crack cocaine. This was not good. I went broke and became basically suicidal. Solution: I talked with a few counselors and moved into clean and sober housing for a year. So I was clean … but when I found a new place I went right back to drinking and smoking crack again. For a while. I finally said to myself “Dude. Throw away the pipe!” Crack cocaine is so dumb. It takes all your money and you feel terrible being broke. So I did throw away the pipe.
I haven’t smoked in 2 years and never will again. I do still drink though … I have a glass of wine sitting here right now lol. Drinking doesn’t make me go broke lol.

~ One year ago. (I happen to be physically disabled, by the way, and not due to drug or alcohol abuse.) Anyway, so this new apartment building was being built. It was like it was calling me. So I kept my eye on it and sure enough, at some point last year they started taking applications for tenants. They actually set aside 10 units for disabled people, I think. It’s a 50 unit apartment building. So I applied. Months went by … but I never lost hope. Then, one day, an email landed in my email SPAM folder. I clicked it (isn’t this amazing?). It was from the apartment manager. I was in, if I wanted to be in! I can’t believe I happened to find that email in my spam folder lol. Anyway, the story continues. It’s not easy for me to move around or travel or walk, but in order to get in here, that’s exactly what I had to do … and I did. I had to pay off my outstanding utility bills at my old apartment, come here for paperwork signing, go to a municipal office for more paperwork signing, etc. I had to take a *Iot* ot deep breaths during all of these activities. And … now I type this answer from a literally brand-new apartment with all new fixtures and such (and would you believe the apartment comes with free wired high-speed internet? It does 🙂 This place is amazing. It makes me feel like I ‘succeeded at life’ somehow. Trust me, this apartment is very modern lol. I had to do my ‘work’ to get it ~ and I did. 🙂
